College Sports Wire names Ohio State football a national title contender in 2023

There seem to be a lot of people who don’t like the Ohio State football team these days. After many years of competing for Big Ten and national titles, the Buckeyes have lost to Michigan the last two years in a row.

This seems to have established the story that the Buckeyes are on the decline. Don’t mind that OSU just got into the College Football Playoff and probably would have won the national championship if Georgia hadn’t had some bad luck in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

College Sports Wire’s Patrick Conn is ready to shoot down that idea about Ohio State’s chances of being in the national title race in 2023. He gives a list of 12 teams he thinks could “Even though the Ohio State Buckeyes didn’t win the Big Ten, they were a field goal away from playing for the national title against TCU,” Conn wrote.

“They don’t have C.J. Stroud this season, but Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka are one of the best wide receiver duos in the country. I think the offence will be fine, and by the end of the season, they should be near the top.

You have to think that for Ohio State, it will all come down to three games. There’s an early test at Notre Dame, a home game against Penn State, and a potential season-defining game against Michigan to end the regular season.

There is ability, but we’ll have to wait and see if everything comes together and if the Buckeyes get some of the breaks that every national champion team gets on their way to fireworks and awards.
