On March 17, 2023, at the age of 60, American actor and musician Lance Reddick passed away. He was best known for his role as concierge Charon in the John Wick film series. The actor from Fringe apparently passed away on Friday morning at his home in Studio City, California.
Before his untimely passing, Reddick had plans to go on Kelly Clarkson’s program the following week to promote John Wick: Chapter 4. He was expected for the New York premiere of the film on Wednesday night, but he never showed up.

Lance Reddick, who was born on June 7, 1962, has been acting professionally since 1996. According to CelebrityNetWorth, the late actor was worth $4 million when he passed away.
Reddick grew up and went to music school in Baltimore, Maryland. He earned his bachelor’s degree in classical music composition from New York’s Eastman School of Music. He eventually settled in Boston, where he attended Yale University’s graduate drama program and earned an MFA in 1994.
He is often cast in more serious parts when he wears a uniform or a suit. The actor and vocalist are best known for his roles as Cedric Daniels on HBO’s The Wire and Agent Philip Broyles on JJ Abrams’ Fringe. He has also been in Lost and the 2013 thriller White House Down.
Reddick has also done voice work for video games, such as Horizon: Zero Dawn and Destiny 2. He is an accomplished pianist who put out an album in 2007 titled Contemplations and Remembrances.
Lance Reddick talked about his acting career and the following in a 2019 interview with the Los Angeles Times:
“I’m constantly aiming for a wider dynamic range… Never, ever, do I want someone to be like, “Well, this is who he is. “Despite this, most of the roles I’ve played have had a somewhat dramatic focus. The men, however, are vastly unlike.”
Posthumously released films will include Lance Reddick as Zeus in Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Charon in the John Wick spin-off, Ballarina.
His wife of 12 years, Stephanie Day, and his two children, Yvonne Nicole and Christopher Reddick, will go on without him.
