Georgia football player arrested on two charges including false imprisonment
A transfer wide receiver who joined the Georgia football program this month was arrested early Monday by university police on two charges including one felony.
Rodarius “Rara” Thomas is charged with felony false imprisonment and misdemeanor battery family violence 1st offense,
according to the Clarke County Jail online booking report.
The Mississippi State transfer was booked at 4:05 a.m. and was released at 12:36 p.m. on bonds totaling $1,850.
Georgia athletics released a statement Monday afternoon on the arrest.
"We are aware of a reported incident involving conduct by one of our student-athletes," it said. "While we are limited in what we can say about the incident,
the report is disappointing and not reflective of the high standards we have for our student-athletes on and off the field.
In addition to following internal Athletic Association policies,
we will be working closely with our administration to ensure we cooperate fully with all law enforcement and campus protocols.”
