It was a back-and-forth affair in Greensboro,
North Carolina but Notre Dame found some of their magic from last year to help them defeat ,
North Carolina-Greensboro 6-4 in the first game of their series.
The Irish jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning and kept that lead until the bottom of the sixth.
The hosts would then match Notre Dame,
scoring four runs themselves to set up a dramatic finish.
Carter Putz led off the ninth inning with a single, and Jack Penney striking out after him.
It was Danny Neri’s turn and he mashed a home run to give the Irish a 6-4 lead.
